Within the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) framework, the Department of Political Science has designed a detailed Bachelor of Arts in Political Science that is aimed at providing a strong base in theoretical, comparative, and applied political science. The program spans for three years and comprises of an array of DSC courses, including Introduction to Political Theory, Indian Government and Politics, Comparative Government and Politics, and Introduction to International Relations along with DSE courses like Themes in Comparative Political Theory and Understanding Globalization. Further, the department takes into account the development of skills among its students through the Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), namely Legislative Support, Public Opinion and Survey Research, Democratic Awareness Through Legal Literacy, and Conflict and Peace Building. Apart from this, Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) and Generic Electives (GE) have been included in the syllabus such as Society, Economy and Politics in Himachal Pradesh and Human Rights, Gender and Environment, respectively. In addition to all this, the department organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, and field trips for the learners to bridge the gap between theory and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Political Science?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor man, when perfected, is the best of animals, but, when separated from law and justice, he is the worst of all; since armed injustice is the more dangerous, and he is equipped at birth with the arms of intelligence and with moral qualities which he may use for the worst ends. But justice is the bond of men in states, and the administration of justice, which is the determination of what is just, is the principle of order in political society.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/strong>
