Department of Botany
Department of Botany, established in the year 2009, is one of the leading departments of the Govt. Arya Degree College, Nurpur. It provides a friendly and co-operative place for undergraduate science student to learn and study. The department has a dedicated faculty and non-teaching staffwho are passionate about their profession and use creativity with latest technology in their fields. The department maintains high standard of education through periodic tests, quizzes, assignments, workshops, training programmes, seminars and field visits. The laboratory is well equippedwith adequate facilities for providing theoretical as well as practical knowledgeto the students. The teaching learning process stresses on developing human values, scientific temperament, and skill development in the students. Department is using demonstration and blended mode of teaching to teach the students.Presently, the department has one Associate Professor and one Laboratory Staff member. Many students of this department have taken up teaching and research as their profession.

- Carried out Sapling Plantation of 60 medicinal plants in College Campus on 6 August 2025.
- Organized an ‘Add-on Course on Mushroom Farming’ w.e.f. 1st September to 30th November 2025’. 62 college students successfully completed the course.
- Celebrated ‘Himalaya Day-2025’ was celebrated by ‘Eco Club’ on 9th September 2025.
- Organized ‘Educational Visit and Workshop for B.Sc. (Medical) Students at Sub divisional Community Fruit Processing and Training Centre, Department of Horticulture, Nurpur (Kangra) Himachal Pradesh’ on 09 September 2025.
- Observed World Ozone Day-2025 under theme ‘From Science to Global Action’ on 16September 2025.
- Organized a quiz competition on “Environmental Awareness” September 25, 2025.
- Carried out saplings plantation in ‘Arogya Vanam’ new botanical garden (near Theru Wali Mata Temple and newly under construction building of the college) in village Ghain Lagore Panchayat on 26 September 2025.

- Organized a quiz competition on “Mushroom Farming” on 6 November 2025 with participation of 50 students.
